Utility template

Waitlist table ready

Meta category: Utility

Utility templates confirm or update something the person already asked for: an order, a booking, an appointment, or a payment they owe on an existing invoice. A discount, a new product, or a 'while you are here' line moves the template into marketing.

They joined the waitlist and a table is free. Telling them, with a deadline to claim it, is utility.

When to use it

Send it only when a table that fits the party size is actually free, to the phone that joined the list. {{4}} has to match what the host stand will do. If you say 10 minutes and seat someone else at 5, the template trained the guest not to trust you.

If they tap 'Give the table up', release it. Do not follow with a marketing note about brunch. They are standing outside or they have gone home. Either way, the next message should be a person or silence.

Tips for getting it approved

  • Party size and a short claim window in the samples.
  • No offer for waiting.
  • Do not send this as a broadcast to everyone within a kilometre.

Frequently asked questions

Can I quote a wait time in the same template?

This body is for when the table is ready. A 'you are third in line' update is a different sentence and should be a different template if you need it.

What if the party size no longer fits?

Do not send this. Call them. The template promises a table for the size in {{2}}.
