Utility template

Table in two hours

Meta category: Utility

Utility templates confirm or update something the person already asked for: an order, a booking, an appointment, or a payment they owe on an existing invoice. A discount, a new product, or a 'while you are here' line moves the template into marketing.

This reminds a guest of a reservation they already made, a couple of hours ahead. It is utility.

When to use it

Send it about two hours before, and skip it if they already confirmed in the thread. A late reply should alert the floor manager, not an autoresponder that offers them a different outlet.

Do not use this for walk-in marketing on a rainy Saturday. There is no table with their name on it in that case, and the body claims there is.

Tips for getting it approved

  • Same outlet name as the confirmation, so the thread matches.
  • No promo code for being on time.
  • Both replies need a person or a clear rule behind them.

Frequently asked questions

Is two hours right for lunch?

For lunch, one hour is often enough. The template does not say 'two hours'. You choose when to send it. The title is the use, not the sentence.

Should I ask them to pre-order?

That is a separate request and, if it discounts the bill, a marketing message. Leave the reminder as a reminder.
