Utility template

Pickup order ready

Meta category: Utility

Utility templates confirm or update something the person already asked for: an order, a booking, an appointment, or a payment they owe on an existing invoice. A discount, a new product, or a 'while you are here' line moves the template into marketing.

The guest placed a pickup order and you are telling them it is ready. That is utility, if you do not add a coupon for next time.

Template body

Hi {{1}}, order {{2}} is ready at the {{3}} counter. We can hold it until {{4}}. Ask for the order number at the pass.

When to use it

Send it when the food is packed, not when the ticket prints. {{4}} is the time you will still hand it over in good condition. A 20-minute hold for ice cream and a 40-minute hold for biryani should not share a hardcoded number. The variable is there so they do not.

If you release the order to a rider instead, do not send this. The guest will arrive to an empty bag. Delivery status belongs on a delivery template.

Tips for getting it approved

  • Order number in the sample, counter named.
  • No 'add a dessert for Rs 99' line.
  • The hold time must be operationally true.

Frequently asked questions

Can I include the item list?

A short item is fine as a variable if orders are usually one dish. A six-line thali will be cut off. The order number is the reliable handle.

What if they are 30 minutes late?

The template already states the hold time. After that, a person decides whether the food is still servable. Do not promise a remake in the template.
