Marketing template

Low stock on the cart item

Meta category: Marketing

Marketing templates promote, recommend, or try to bring someone back. Meta bills them as marketing messages. The person needs a valid opt-in, and the copy cannot be dressed up as a shipping or payment update.

Scarcity is a sales tactic. Even if the stock count is accurate, the point of the message is to hurry a purchase, so Meta classifies it as marketing.

When to use it

Use this only when the inventory feed can fill {{4}} with a live count for that SKU and size. If you cannot, use the plain one-hour reminder instead. A false 'only 2 left' line is the fastest way to lose both the customer and the template.

Send it once, after the first reminder, and stop if they tap 'Remove this item'. That reply should suppress further cart marketing for this cart, while order messages for anything they already bought still go out.

Tips for getting it approved

  • The sample for {{4}} should be a number, not the phrase 'low stock'.
  • Do not say 'selling fast' or 'almost gone' without the count. Reviewers flag unsourced urgency.
  • The URL sample must open a cart, not the homepage.

Frequently asked questions

Is a low-stock alert utility if the number is true?

No. Utility is for a transaction in progress. A stock warning whose job is to close a sale is marketing, whether or not the count is accurate.

Should I include the price?

Only if the price on the template matches the price at the button URL at send time. A variable for the price is safer than a hardcoded rupee figure that will be wrong next month.
