Utility template

COD checkout not confirmed

Meta category: Utility

Utility templates confirm or update something the person already asked for: an order, a booking, an appointment, or a payment they owe on an existing invoice. A discount, a new product, or a 'while you are here' line moves the template into marketing.

The shopper already chose cash on delivery and stopped on the confirmation step. This message asks them to confirm that choice. It is utility only if it does not add a discount or another product.

When to use it

Use this only after the customer selected COD and reached the confirm screen. A browse session or a card payment that failed is a different case. Tie {{2}} to the draft id in your store so support can find it.

Do not attach a coupon, a free gift, or a 'switch to prepaid and save' line. Those additions make the message marketing, and they also train customers to abandon COD checkouts on purpose.

Tips for getting it approved

  • Both buttons should be quick replies, not links to a sale page.
  • The body must say the order is not confirmed. Calling it a placed order is inaccurate and a common rejection reason.
  • Samples need a real-looking order id and an amount, not 'xxxx' and 'amount'.

Frequently asked questions

Why is this utility when the other cart templates are marketing?

Because a payment method was already chosen and the message only asks for a yes or no on that draft. The moment you offer a discount for switching to prepaid, resubmit the text as marketing.

Can I include the product name?

Yes, as a variable, if it is the item on the draft. Do not add recommended add-ons in the same sentence.
